We have become NARHA Accredited!n 2008, HHH began offering therapeutic horseback riding lessons to persons with disabilities living in Farmville and ten surrounding counties as a NARHA Member Center which is similar to a club membership with the obligation of having NARHA certified instructors. A considerable amount of time and money over the past year was devoted over the previous year for staff to attend necessary training and to ensure the program met all NARHA recommendations. Therefore, our community benefits from the best quality and safest possible therapeutic riding program. On Nov 14th, 2009 Heartland Horse Heroes (HHH) underwent 51/2 hours of inspection, observation and interview by site inspectors from The North American Riding for the Handicapped Assoc (NAHRA) which is headquartered in Denver, CO. HHH's program and facility were scored on safety and quality standards that encompassed approximately 100 areas. To become accredited NARHA mandatory standards and an additional 80 percent of the general standards is required. HHH received a perfect score and met 100 percent of all NARHA standards to be titled a "NARHA Premiere Accredited Center". Without community support this would not have been possible. HHH is very thankful for the large numbers of volunteers from the community, our local Boy Scout troop #6516, and from Longwood University, that have come out to help us provide our riding sessions. We are very proud to have attained accreditation and stay mindful that increased community support is required for continued growth. We plan to provide service to all of our equestrians who have asked to return for more riding lessons as well as enlarging our client base.
